  • Highland Park doctor accused of faking pot paperwork Jul 29, 2014 6:55 AM
    IIllinois regulators allege a suburban doctor misled a 79-year-old patient by issuing a bogus medical marijuana certification for a $250 fee, according to a formal complaint filed Monday. The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation filed the complaint against Dr. Joseph J. Starkman, who has a practice in Highland Park. It's the first such complaint against a doctor since medical marijuana regulations were approved and the second since the state's law went into effect.

The U.S. should bring “one hell of a wrongful-death suit against Russian assets that are located in the United States to make sure there’s a significant cost paid by Russia,” the Highland Park Republican said on CNN.

    A Highland Park chiropractor accused of sexually assaulting a female patient pleaded not guilty in Lake County court Thursday. Kevin G. Dutton, 38, of Chicago, faces up to 15 years in prison if found guilty of assaulting the patient during a chiropractic treatment.

    A Lake County prosecutor requested, then withdrew a motion to revoke the bond a Highland Park woman convicted of running over and killing a 5-year-old girl while “huffing” computer dust cleaner. Carly Rousso's sentencing date is set for Sept. 17.

    A Lake County judge ruled Thursday it was constitutional for prosecutors to charge a Highland Park woman with aggravated driving under the influence in a fatal crash, even though the chemical compound she ingested is not on the state’s list of intoxicating substances. A sentencing date for Carly Rousso, 20, of Highland Park, will be set July 14.

  • Highland Park huffing case decision delayed until July 10 Jul 3, 2014 3:05 PM
    A Lake County judge will take a week to decide whether a Highland Park teen ruled to be driving under the influence of drugs when she struck and killed a 5-year-old girl was convicted unconstitutionally. Judge James Booras said “he had a lot to think about” Thursday after prosecutors and a defense attorney argued Carly Rousso’s aggravated driving under the influence of an intoxicating compound conviction.
