    All residents and friends are asked to participate in an environmental project designed to share and split perennials from your garden and donate the bulbs and root plantings as you thin out your perennials to help beautify the Hawthorn Woods community. Donations will be accepted Saturday, August 23rd from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Village Hall, 2 Lagoon Drive in Hawthorn Woods.

    Saint Mary School Principal Nikki Raftery headed off to Harvard University, specifically the Data Wise Institute. This wasn’t a vacation or workshop. Raftery was chosen by the Archdiocese of Chicago Catholic Schools to attend the ground breaking conference. Of the 207 Archdiocese elementary schools, Raftery was identified as a principal who has done a great job facilitating the analysis of data and using this analysis to drive academic achievement.

    On June 9, 2014 at the Court of Honor Ceremony, the fourth annual Sandra Meinholz Spirit of Scouting Foundation Scholarship was awarded to Allen Kuncharia and Declan Sawyer, Boy Scout Troop 140. Each scout received a $500 scholarship that is placed in a personal account to be used toward their advancement in scouting.
