But it’s another thing for a team to actually make due on its goal in the fervor it was done after Jacobs’ 53-35 win over rival Dundee-Crown at the Eagles Nest Tuesday marked a perfect 10-0 mark in Fox Valley Conference Valley Division play.

Right on schedule, the Barrington boys swimming team was peaking. That paid serious dividends at the Illinois High School Association sectional meet the Broncos hosted Saturday afternoon. Barrington led the way with six champions out of 12 total events, all of whom advanced to next weekend’s state meet at New Trier. The Broncos also had eight total qualifiers, the most among a crowded field of strong squads, including Stevenson, which won the team title with 238 points.

But all that changed at Elgin’s Chesbrough Field House Thursday night when D-C beat District 300 rival Jacobs 57-50 in the Class 4A Elgin regional title game, D-C’s first piece of postseason hardware since 2003.

But nothing seems to phase these Golden Eagles for long. Leading by 3 points at the half, Jacobs guard Chrishawn Orange scored 11 of his game-high 27 points during a 17-3 burst at the outset of the third quarter, and the Golden Eagles held off a late Cary-Grove charge for a 66-57 victory in Algonquin.

  • Jacobs clinches share of FVC Valley crown Feb 15, 2015 1:30 AM
