One injury in I-90 truck crash near Marengo May 1, 2013 12:00 AM
A two-truck accident and fire forced authorities to shut down all lanes of the Jane Addams Tollway near Route 20 outside of Marengo early Wednesday. Traffic was backed up for miles on the tollway, authorities said, but all lanes were open by 11 a.m., Kistulinec said. Westbound Route 20 had been backed up for miles since it was an alternate route.

Two late Tuesday morning crashes on Interstate 90 occurred within about a minute of each other and were separated by less than a mile apart, according to Lt. Rick Heine of the Hampshire Fire Protection District. Both crashes took place near Marengo. Both of the westbound lanes were reopened by Tuesday evening.

Man identified in Hampshire rollover Mar 16, 2013 12:00 AM
One person was killed in a rollover crash Saturday afternoon along New Lebanon Road in DeKalb County, authorities said. The victim was ejected from the vehicle when it rolled over at 1:35 p.m. just south of Route 72 and just west of the line between Kane and DeKalb counties, Hampshire fire officials said. The person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Motorcyclist injured in crash near Hampshire Jul 13, 2012 12:00 AM
All lanes of the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway near Hampshire had to be shut down Friday morning to allow a helicopter land so an injured motorcyclist could be transported to a hospital. The crash occurred just before 10 a.m. near the Marengo-Hampshire toll plaza on I-90.

South Barrington man injured when car hits semi on I-90 Jun 18, 2012 12:00 AM
Dhaval Patel, 36, of South Barrington rear-ended a semi truck with his Lexus southwest of Marengo early today, injuring him and briefly shutting down a portion of the Jane Addams Tollway, authorities said. Hampshire Fire Protection District crews had to extricate him from the vehicle. He was flown by helicopter to St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford for a broken leg, official said.

The Hampshire Fire District board of trustees has tapped two veteran supervisors to lead its squad of eight full-time firefighters and 30 part-time firefighters into the future. Bill Robinson, former deputy chief, and Trevor Herrmann, a former captain, were sworn in earlier this week as fire chief and deputy chief, respectively.
