"Working," a musical based on the 1974 Pulitzer Prize-winning book by the late Studs Terkel of Chicago, is the College of Lake County summer musical. The show, produced by the CLC departments of theatre, music and dance, will be presented at 7:30 p.m. on July 17, 18, 23, 24 and 25 and at 2 p.m. on July 19 and 26 in the Studio Theatre of the James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts on the CLC Grayslake campus. "Working" takes a 24-hour look into the lives of 28 ordinary working people. Adapted from Terkel's critically acclaimed oral history, this newly updated "Working" paints a vivid portrait of the men and women the world so often takes for granted, such as the mill worker, tech support worker, waitress, fireman, housewife, delivery driver and schoolteacher. In their own words, these individuals reveal the joys, heartaches, hopes and dreams of the average working American.
