Grayslake Central a regional championMay 26, 2012 12:00 AM
Grayslake Central catcher Kristian Meehan had no trouble expressing his feelings on the importance of the Rams' 4-1 Class 3A regional championship victory over Notre Dame in Niles on Saturday. "Huge," said the senior. "This is why you do all the winter workouts, get up early in the morning, do all the sprints — it all pays off when you can get a great win like this for your team and your school. There's a lot of things that go on behind the scenes that people don't see."

Grayslake North turns away Central May 23, 2012 12:00 AM
The third battle between the Grayslake softball teams came on Tuesday in Antioch. A total of 25 players reached base in this Class 3A regional opener. But only three of them scored. It was tense most of the way. Grayslake North (24-8) rode the 5-hit pitching of Kristi Gandy and held off a stubborn Central squad 2-1. Grayslake North heads back to Antioch on Saturday morning to meet the winner of rivals Antioch and Lakes at 10 a.m.

Goshe leaves Grayslake Central in good shape May 22, 2012 12:00 AM
Nick Goshe gets a kick out of Grayslake Central soccer. The success of the school's girls volleyball, boys track and cross country, baseball, boys and girls basketball and wrestling programs get him equally juiced and make him proud to be a Ram. He's more than just a fan, though. He's also the head football coach. Well, he was until last Thursday, when he informed his players and Grayslake Central's administration that he was resigning. Goshe's passion, attention to detail, organizational skills, fresh ideas and love and knowledge of football were obvious even during his first two years as head coach, when the Rams won all of one game.So after two straight playoff berths and accomplishments that go beyond wins on the field, it's no surprise that the 33-year-old's desire for another challenge has resulted him moving on to what he hopes are "greener" pastures.
