Her interest in environmental studies led her to small jobs in other suburban forest preserve districts, but now the Washington University grad runs the native seed nursery at the Rollins Savana Forest Preserve. The beauty is in the details for Schultz. "Understanding what it takes to grow the plant; how do the seeds germinate? What can we do to make them happier and healthier?”

  • While meteorological Spring has begun, Winter continues to show its presence. I took this photo yesterday after a light snow shower. The photo is a 3.5 times life-size macro photo that I cropped to show an isolated snowflake. The snowflake seems to glow against the dark background and has a striking geometric pattern. A Canon MP-E 65mm 1-5x lens was used with a Canon MR-14EX ring lite flash, handheld.
