    A Lake County sheriff's deputy was injured Thursday night after his squad car was rear-ended by another vehicle, authorities said. The accident occurred near Route 83 and Winchester Road in an unincorporated area near Mundelein, according to Lake County Sgt. Sara Balmes.

    North Shore Gas is donating Carbon Monoxide (CO) detectors to the villages of Mundelein and Grayslake to call attention to the need for every resident to have a working carbon monoxide detector in their home as required by Illinois law The CO detectors are courtesy of First Alert, through a partnership with North Shore Gas.

  • No one injured in basement fire near Grayslake Feb 22, 2013 12:00 AM
    The cause of a fire in an abandoned home in unincorporated Lake County near Grayslake is under investigation, fire officials said. The Grayslake Fire Protection District was notified at 10:39 a.m. of the fire near Winchester Road and Highway 83. Upon arrival at the home in the 29000 block of North Ivanhoe Road, firefighters found an abandoned farmhouse with a fire actively burning in the basement.

    A single-family home in Grayslake is uninhabitable after a fire Saturday afternoon destroyed much of the interior. Grayslake Fire Protection District Lt. David Torkilsen said nobody was in the house when the fire started at about 3:17 p.m. on the 33000 block of North Lone Rock.
