    Ralph Dantino, the late Geneva alderman, was a strong supporter of public parks, serving many years on the Geneva Park District Foundation's board. He will be memorialized Saturday when the district names an educational feature at Peck Farm Park after him.

  • Geneva park damage may be worse than first thought Apr 22, 2013 4:42 PM
    Damage to Island Park in Geneva may be more extensive than park district officials estimated, parks director Sheavoun Lambillotte said Monday afternoon. It appears Thursday's torrents of river water washed away much of the dirt-related work done last summer while the park was closed during reconstruction of the north bridge. Meanwhile, North Aurora is asking residents to submit reports of any damage they suffered, to be turned in to Kane County for its application for federal aid.

    A judge has dismissed a lawsuit filed by the family of a Naperville man who drowned in August 2011 trying to save his girlfriend's child from the boil created by the Geneva Dam on the Fox River. The attorney for William Suchy, brother of the late Randy Suchy, promised an appeal.

    It's unlikely anyone objected to being told to go fly a kite Saturday at Peck Farm Park in Geneva. That's because adults and children descended on the property from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the Geneva Park District's second annual Kite Festival. While the sky was sunny and the temperature warm, it wasn't a prime kite-flying day because of a lack of wind.

    Stories old and new will be shared through song and spoken word at the 36th annual Fox Valley Folk Music and Storytelling Festival, set for Sunday and Monday, Sept. 2-3, at Island Park in Geneva. The two days will feature more than 100 hours of folk music, dance, stories and workshops performed by more than thirty-five of the finest Midwest and national folk music and storytelling acts.

  • Geneva park improvement in first week Jun 21, 2012 2:15 PM
    Construction is progressing at Geneva's Island Park with help from a grant by the Illinois Department of Transportation. The massive undertaking of replacing the north bridge to the island began Friday, and city engineer John Zeman reported on the progress at Monday's Geneva Park District Board meeting.
