    Damage to Island Park in Geneva may be more extensive than park district officials estimated, parks director Sheavoun Lambillotte said Monday afternoon. It appears Thursday's torrents of river water washed away much of the dirt-related work done last summer while the park was closed during reconstruction of the north bridge. Meanwhile, North Aurora is asking residents to submit reports of any damage they suffered, to be turned in to Kane County for its application for federal aid.

    A judge has dismissed a lawsuit filed by the family of a Naperville man who drowned in August 2011 trying to save his girlfriend's child from the boil created by the Geneva Dam on the Fox River. The attorney for William Suchy, brother of the late Randy Suchy, promised an appeal.

    It's unlikely anyone objected to being told to go fly a kite Saturday at Peck Farm Park in Geneva. That's because adults and children descended on the property from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the Geneva Park District's second annual Kite Festival. While the sky was sunny and the temperature warm, it wasn't a prime kite-flying day because of a lack of wind.
