Malloy, recognizing the need for God’s grace and forgiveness in the lives of Catholics, has again asked the 105 parishes in the 11-county diocese to add Wednesday, March 25, to their regular Lenten confession calendar and, where possible, to offer confessions that day from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

    As part of an Illinois Community College Trustees Association (ICCTA) conference March 13-14, College of Lake County Trustee Richard A. Anderson will present the findings of a state-wide committee examining a proposal to allow community colleges to offer applied bachelor’s degrees. Anderson is the chair of the ICCTA’s ad hoc Baccalaureate Degree Study Committee, which has been looking at the issue over the last several months.

  • 4 years in prison for Fox Lake woman who broke ‘last chance’ probation Mar 9, 2015 3:09 PM
    A former Elgin woman who once was arrested on drug charges less than 24 hours after bonding out of jail on similar drug charges has been re-sentenced to four years in prison for violating her probation. Colleen Bagley, 39, now of Fox Lake, faced up to 16 years in prison on the Kane County charges and also has felony drug and burglary charges pending in Lake County.

    Fox Lake Fire Protection District officials say two men were taken to a hospital for treatment for injuries suffered in separate weekend snowmobile mishaps. Batallion Chief Ed Lescher said crews responded to the four calls involving snowmobiles on the Chain O' Lakes from 8 p.m. Friday until about 5 p.m. Saturday.

  • Police searching for suspect who escalated Fox Lake tavern brawl Mar 3, 2015 6:05 AM
    Police are looking for a man who they say escalated a weekend brawl at a Fox Lake tavern that resulted in a 27-year-old bouncer being shot in the shoulder. Fox Lake Police Lt. Mark Schindler said officers are reviewing surveillance video and trying to identify the person who shoved another man down a flight of stairs off a back deck just before the shooting at Pug Mahones Irish Pub & Grill at 2:45 a.m. Saturday.
