Fox Lake dedicates firefighter memorial May 19, 2013 12:00 AM
Fox Lake celebrated its history of volunteer firefighters with a new memorial dedicated at the department’s original fire station Sunday afternoon. More than 100 community members came to recognize 105-year history of the Fox Lake Fire Protection District and honor the memory of 68 former firefighters and volunteers who have passed away with two statues unveiled Sunday.

An early morning fire damaged a furniture repair shop in Fox Lake Saturday. Firefighters were called at 1:44 a.m. to battle the blaze at Furniture Doctor, 34 E. Grand Ave. No one was injured and officials are trying to determine the amount of damage.

An early morning fire Saturday destroyed a large, unoccupied home in Wadsworth. "It was a significant fire. It was a total loss," said Mark Kirschhoffer, fire chief of the Newport Township Fire Protection District.

Grand jury indicts Fox Lake man on reckless homicide charge Dec 6, 2012 12:00 AM
A Lake County grand jury has indicted a Fox Lake man on reckless homicide and aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol charges in connection with an Oct. 1 crash that killed a passenger in his vehicle. Anthony Cechini, 23, of the 0 to 100 block of N. Lake Street, will appear before Lake County Judge Daniel Shanes on Dec. 20 for arraignment. He remains in Lake County jail in lieu of $500,000 bond.
