After a great performance last week, Stevenson was hoping to challenge Mundelein for the Independent Conference boys gymnastics title Wednesday night at Glenbard South. The Patriots did give the Mustangs a run for their money, but they could not prevent Mundelein from winning its third straight conference crown, 148.75 to 146.4.

Man charged with attempted kidnapping of Fenton student Apr 12, 2013 12:00 AM
A 16-year-old female walking to school Friday morning in Bensenville was threatened by a man with a knife who may have been trying to kidnap her, authorities said. The student was walking to Fenton High School when she was approached at the corner of Green Street and Logan Way just before 7:30 a.m., according to Bensenville police.

A 14-4 win Thursday over visiting Fenton gave the Glenbard South baseball team its first Metro Suburban Conference series sweep of 2013 and continued the Raiders' strong season start. "We know the tough part of the season is ahead of us. We have Riverside-Brookfield, Illiana Christian and Ridgewood all in the second half of the season," said Raiders coach Mike Riley said. "And this is a conference where winning two out of three in a series is not good enough to win conference. You need to win all three. We need to get better in the first half, so we can be ready for those series."

Elk Grove's softball team graduated the core from its team that took fourth place in the Class 4A state tournament last season.But Fenton coach Dave Mello, an Elk Grove grad, summed it up well. "They don't ever rebuild," Mello said. "Anyone who underestimates them is not giving Ken (Grams, Hall of Fame coach) and his program its due." These relatively new Grens (only three varsity returners) have been in tune all season and rang up their fifth straight win on Wednesday at the Dome at the Ballpark in Rosemont. Senior pitcher Brianna De Silvia, no stranger to the inside facility that has been getting rave reviews, became the third Grens to notch a win as she defeated Fenton 9-1 in the fourth annual Indoor Illinois High School Jamboree.
