Rebounding is a pride thing for Evan Boudreaux. The 6-foot-8 Lake Forest senior expects himself to get every defensive rebound there is, and as many offensive rebounds as humanly possible. In leading the Scouts to a 54-47 victory over Evanston in a Class 4A sectional semifinal Wednesday at Waukegan, Boudreaux did pretty much that. He finished with 22 rebounds, to go along with a game-high 22 points.

  • Stevenson falls short against Evanston in OT Dec 27, 2014 10:23 PM
While she and her basketball teammates may not compare to Jalen Brunson and his at Stevenson, Sophia Way can at least mention her fine team in the same breath as the school’s fine arts. “I could not be more proud to go to a school like Stevenson,” Way said. “Academically, we’re ranked so well. Our fine arts are ranked very well. Our football team is the (Class 8A) state champion. Our (boys) basketball team is ranked No. 1 in the state. Having all that success, sometimes people overlook (the girls basketball team).” Way was still a proud Patriot following Stevenson’s 68-60 overtime loss to Evanston in quarterfinal action of the Dundee-Crown Charger Classic in Carpentersville on Saturday night. But as they were saying that they were also still in shock, as was just about everyone who had just witnessed the Storm's improbable comeback. Down 3 runs going into the bottom of the sixth inning, their senior ace knocked out of the game in the top of the inning, the Storm did what they do best — “Storm” back. South Elgin scored 4 runs in the bottom of the sixth then rode the right arm of senior reliever Tyler Brown in the top of the seventh to come away with a dramatic and thrilling 7-6 win over Evanston Monday night in the Class 4A supersectional at Boomers Stadium in Schaumburg.

  • From the darkness, South Elgin emerges a winner Jun 10, 2014 6:57 AM

I can use my speed to get the guy.” Miller, who was sixth in the state last spring in the 200-meter dash, broke away from coverage three times, and Broncos quarterback Daniel Kubiuk was right on target on each occasion as host Barrington flew past Evanston 23-8 Saturday in the opening round of the Class 8A playoffs.
