  • Schocking finish as Schaumburg wins again Apr 23, 2014 10:05 PM
Schaumburg’s Ryan Schocker jolted Conant on Thursday. Schocker lined a two-out single to right driving home Michael Fan to lift the Saxons to a 5-4 baseball victory in Schaumburg. “I just wasn’t going to give up,” said Schocker, who was behind in the count early and worked it to 3-2 before delivering the winning hit. “I did what had to get done. I worked the count and then I had to get the right pitch. It was a 3-2 fastball and I just went with the pitch.” Fan was down 0-2 in the count with two outs but was able to coax a walk. He then advanced to second on a passed ball and scored easily on Schocker’s rip to right. The victory kept the Saxons (10-1, 5-0) atop the Mid-Suburban West and made a winner out of starter Brendan Beck, who improved to 4-0.
