Jerry Zimmerman, also known as Mr. Freeze of Fermilab, demonstrated fun properties of cryogenics for children at Ela Area Public Library in Lake Zurich. Zimmerman discussed the properties of liquid nitrogen and its effects on air, liquids and solids. "I want kids to think that science is exciting, science is fun, and that science is fun to learn in school," he said.

"I've always loved kids' literature, so it felt like a natural path for me," said Natalie Ziarnik, Ela Area Township Library head of children's department. She recently penned and published her first children's book, "Madeleine's Light," based on the real-life relationship between the French sculptor Camille Claudel and a girl who modeled for several of her sculptures in the late 19th century.
