    The Elgin Fire Department will have a new chief starting next year. John Fahy, a 23-year veteran of the department, was announced Friday as the new head of the 136-person staff of fire and emergency personnel. He replaces John Henrici, who retired in November after a 50-year career in fire service and two separate stints as Elgin's chief.

  • Fire station to close in East Dundee district Nov 23, 2010 12:00 AM
    The Rock Road Lane station on the east side of the East Dundee Fire Protection District will close Dec. 1 in the face of a budget deficit. Trustees on the district board hope it will be a temporary closure. The department has been renting the second station on a monthly basis for two years. Hank Clemmensen, a board trustee, said closing will save almost $40,000 in rent for the next budget year.
