    Barrie Komorski was prepared to wait out the flooding in her home near East Dundee Thursday, but her little dog, Roxi, forced her to rethink her decision. For 17 years, Komorski, 60, has lived in the Richardson subdivision, an area that backs up to the Fox River and is notorious for its floods. The floods forced her out of her home in 2007 and 2010. But after Nicor shut her gas off as a precautionary measure, a move that meant she wouldn’t have any heat, Komorski changed her mind about fighting the floods.

  • E. Dundee garage fire put out quickly Jan 25, 2013 12:00 AM
    Firefighting crews quickly extinguished a garage fire in East Dundee Friday morning, authorities said. Officials from the East Dundee Fire Protection District said crews were dispatched at 6:55 a.m. to the 100 block of South Van Buren Street, and upon arrival, found a single-story detached garage/wood working shop with light smoke showing. It was soon after extinguished.

They won't have the summer barbecue as they have had in years past; they will just sell packages of chicken, steaks, and pork chops. That sale will take place from 3-11 p.m. Saturday, July 14, in Max Freeman Park. Last year the sale brought in $1,500, said Paula Roland, treasurer of the East Dundee Firefighters' Association. Association members sponsor the sale.
