The Dundee Township Lions Club garners appreciation from West Dundee this week for its efforts to make sure more than 300 people went to the Shop with a Cop event on a full stomach. Shop with a Cop pairs needy children with a local police officer to do holiday shopping at Walmart — cops from Carpentersville, Gilberts, the Dundees, Pingree Grove and Sleepy Hollow are all involved.

The Fox River Valley Public Library District is pleased to welcome preschoolers to the first storytime at the Randall Oaks Branch Library. Storytimes will also resume at the main library in East Dundee, and at Panera Bread in Elgin.

Hampshire’s library asking for items of yore Nov 15, 2012 12:00 AM
The days of handling old photographs and archives with care are over for patrons at the Ella Johnson Memorial Public Library District in Hampshire. The library recently uploaded three digital albums to Illinois Digital Archives. But district officials need patrons to help build the library's digital collection. As such, the library is holding a digital donation day from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday.

You'll find more than clothes, jewelry and household items at Geneva Commons later this month. The folks from Anderson Animal Shelter in South Elgin will be at the Randall Road outdoor mall on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 22 and 23, collecting donations to help them care for the rescues they house.

West Side library branch grand opening a smash Aug 25, 2012 12:00 AM
The new west side branch of the Fox River Valley Public Library District welcomed more than 1,700 visitors, who were eager to check it out during its grand opening on Saturday. "It's very exciting, everyone has been waiting a long time to have services out this way," said Nancy Kendzior, the branch's manager.

Dundee Library District has a new name Apr 17, 2012 12:00 AM
Starting July 1, the Dundee Township Public Library District will be known as the Fox River Valley Public Library District. Officials said its old name didnt accurately reflect the community the district serves and late last year, authorities asked residents, employees and benefactors to come up with a new one.

Directing the ECC Jazz Ensembles is Mark Bettcher, director of the Dundee-Crown High School jazz bands and orchestras in Carpentersville.
