Northern Illinois University Continuing and Professional Education are offering a "Comedy Writing and Performance Camp" for youth entering ninth to 12th grade on July 15-20.

A former teacher and basketball coach at Roselle's Lake Park High School has pleaded guilty to the criminal sexual assault of one of his students and is headed to prison. Jared Wissmiller, 27, of Downers Grove was sentenced to eight years.

Carl Grapentine, the longtime host of the "Morning Program" on Chicago's classical music station WFMT, has been named the winner of the Northshore Concert Band Lifetime Achievement Award. The award presentation will be during Northshore Concert Band's June 17 concert "A Long Time Ago … " in Evanston.
