Elmhurst resident Bob Peickert, 67, survived a challenge to his seat and will serve a third term as chairman of the Democratic Party of DuPage County. Two hundred precinct committee representatives, each with a weighted vote, re-elected Peikert over Downers Grove Township Democratic Organization Chairwoman Kim Savage by a vote of 5,880 to 3,569 Wednesday night.

Cook County Board of Review Commissioner Dan Patlak of Wheeling said Tuesday's primary election had nothing to do with a north/south "turf war" among county Republicans. He actually defeated his opponent, Palos Park resident Sean Morrison, in several south suburban townships, he said. Patlak will face another south suburban resident in November, when he squares off against Democrat Casey Griffin of Midlothian.

DuPage Dist. 6 Democratic incumbent winsMar 21, 2012 12:00 AM
The only Democratic DuPage County Board member with a primary contest was victorious on Tuesday night. With all 110 precincts reporting, unofficial results show District 6 incumbent Dirk Enger with 2,661 votes. Newcomers Lauren Laurie Nowak and Dave Barry received 3,324 and 2,481 votes, respectively. The fourth Democrat in the primary race, Terrell Barnes, received 1,977 votes.

Shore, Steele, Thompson win MWRD race Mar 20, 2012 12:00 AM
Debra Shore, Kari Steele and Patrick D. Thompson won the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District board primary Tuesday. With 99 percent of the precincts reporting, unofficial totals show Shore with 189,636 votes, or 21.1 percent; Steele with 177,046 votes, or 19.7 percent; and Thompson with 158,294 votes, or 17.6 percent. They were among six candidates trying to shoehorn into three, six-year terms. Other candidates were incumbents Patricia Horton and Stella Black of Chicago, and Patricia Young of LaGrange Park.

Challenger Jennifer Laesch of Aurora defeated incumbent Kane County Board member Juan Reyna, also of Aurora, for the Democratic nomination for Kane County Board District 3. Unofficial election results compiled by the Aurora Election Commission show Laesch with 56 percent of the vote, and Reyna with 44.
