    The Kane County Cougars advanced to the second round of the Midwest League playoffs Thursday night with a 4-3, 13-inning victory over Wisconsin at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark in Geneva. Jeimer Candelario drove in Trey Martin with a game-winning single.

Olt began the season with the Cubs but was demoted to Class AAA Iowa after batting .139. He said Thursday he's eager to get back and readty for a fresh start.

The Cougars (45-23, 90-48) suffered their first home loss during August as the pitchers for the Chiefs (34-34, 71-66) struck out 13 batters.

    The Cougars (35-20, 80-45) pitching staff did not allow a run in the final 18 innings of a three-game series sweep over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (29-26, 65-59). A double-header shutout sweep of 9-0 and 3-0 at Fox Cities handed the Cougars their seventh straight win.
