    Artwork created by Vernon Hills-area students is on display at the Aspen Drive Library during the 5th annual Hawthorn School District 73 Art Show. The art created by about 375 students will be on display at the library through Saturday, April 4.

    If the cold weather has got you down, the Cook Memorial Public Library wants you to let it go and warm up your voice by attending a singalong of the Disney movie “Frozen” on Tuesday. The movie, which has made a worldwide gross of more than $1.27 billion, will be screened at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at the Aspen Drive Library, 701 Aspen Drive, Vernon Hills, and at 2 p.m. Tuesday, at Cook Park Library, 413 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Libertyville.

The drop-in family and children’s program transformed a portion of the Libertyville library into a museum for a day so children could learn scientific and technological principles with everyday items.

    Saturday's annual Pumpkin Fest in downtown Libertyville and Cook Park is a fall tradition that provides fun activities for families, including entertainment, pumpkin painting, a food collection and crafts. The Libertyville Junor Women's Club and local Rotary clubs provided 1,000 pumpkins to festival goers in exchange for a food dontation to benefit the Libertyville Township Food Pantry.

  • Library advocate resigns from Cook board to pursue advanced degree Sep 22, 2014 6:11 PM
    Joe Bean, a Cook Memorial Public Library District trustee plans on resigning from the post. Bean, 70, has moved to Springfield to pursue an advanced degree. "It's a big loss for the district," said board President Bonnie Quirk. The district will look for a replacement to fill the spot, which runs until April 2016.
