New Carol Stream board president wants second look at land sale May 7, 2013 12:00 AM
Eight months after the Carol Stream library board began looking into a possible sale of a 7.5-acre parcel of land on Kuhn Road, the new board president said Monday he's looking for a fresh start. In his first meeting since he and four allies on the Support the Library slate were sworn in, Jim Bailey said he doesn't believe the outgoing board president, Mike Wade, was giving the rest of the board the full story on negotiations between he and representatives of ManorCare, a Toledo, Ohio-based nursing home company that offered to buy the property for $1.35 million.

The Carol Stream Public Library's attorney said Thursday night the five elected trustees sworn in Wednesday are indeed properly seated members of the board of trustees. The 3-page written legal opinion by Stewart Diamond of the Ancel Glink law firm brings to resolution a pending legal question that left direction and oversight of the library in limbo for 24 hours.

Carol Stream library trustees sworn in two weeks early May 1, 2013 12:00 AM
Can Carol Stream have two library boards at the same time? Wednesday marked yet another unusual twist in what has become one of DuPage County's most unusual political sagas, when the newly elected board was sworn in two weeks earlier than scheduled — all in an attempt to prevent the outgoing board from trying to sell a 7.5-acre piece of property once intended for a new library.

Officials from the Carol Stream Public Library and a nursing home company have agreed on a purchase price for the library's vacant 7.5-acre property, though a final deal hasn't been struck. Carol Stream voters pick new voices for library board Apr 9, 2013 12:00 AM

A Carol Stream volunteer beekeeper, Purple Heart recipient and philanthropist has decided to give his latest donation — $25,000 — to the Carol Stream Public Library. Lawrence DuBose, 92, says he developed a "habit of reading" from a young age, and it's something he'd like to pass onto younger generations. "If I can encourage people to read instead of wasting time on television, maybe I can do some good," he said.
