Forgotten Hamilton makes rare court appearance May 13, 2013 12:00 AM
Richard Hamilton was as surprised as anyone when Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau looked down the bench and sent him into the game early in the second quarter. "Wow, I'm going in the game," Hamilton said later when asked to describe his thoughts. "It's a crazy game. Sometimes you've just got to be ready." After missing a long stretch late in the season with a back injury, Hamilton made just two brief appearances in the first round against Brooklyn and hadn't played at all in the Miami series.

Bulls say physical play will continue May 12, 2013 12:00 AM
Game 2 between the Bulls and Miami featured 9 technical fouls, one flagrant and two ejections. Game 3 included 3 technicals and one ejection. The Bulls dropped those two contests, but won Game 1 when there were no serious infractions of any sort. So how physical should they play in Monday's Game 4?

Deng slowly improving; doubtful for Game 4 May 12, 2013 12:00 AM
Luol Deng sat and watched while his teammates shot around after Sunday's practice. As much as he'd like to contribute to the Bulls' playoff effort, Deng is having trouble sustaining any sort of pysical activity. “I’m just trying to get back to how I do things normally,” he said. “It hasn’t been that easy. It’s easier not eating solid food.”

Assessing Bulls-Heat as things cool for a day May 11, 2013 12:00 AM
With a break in the Bulls-Heat action, it's time to answer some questions. What will happen to Mohammed? What is Thibodeau complaining about? Where is Rip? Will Nate be back? And is Miami's p.a. announcer really the league's worst?

Bulls in a foul moodMay 10, 2013 12:00 AM
The Bulls did plenty of things well in Friday’s Game 3 against the Miami Heat. But beating the Heat without Luol Deng and Kirk Hinrich requires close to a perfect performance and the Bulls couldn’t deliver. They dropped a 104-94 decision at the United Center and now trail this second-round series 2-1 with Game 4 on Monday. "When you play this team, you have to have a lot of mental, physical and emotional toughness,” coach Tom Thibodeau said.

LeBron James came on strong down the stretch to finish with 25 points, Chris Bosh added 20 points and 19 rebounds, and the Miami Heat followed up the most lopsided playoff win in franchise history with a 104-94 victory over the Bulls on Friday night to take a 2-1 lead in the Eastern Conference semifinals.

NBA slaps Bulls’ Gibson with $25,000 fine May 10, 2013 12:00 AM
Bulls forward Taj Gibson was fined $25,000 for his verbal abuse of an official in Wednesday's Game 2 at Miami. Gibson sent out an apology via Twitter on Friday afternoon. It read as follows: "I want 2 apologize Bulls and NBA fans 4 my actions. Got 2 keep my passion focused on my team. Get hyped for tonight Chicago!" Not surprisingly, the league has sent noted hard-line official Joe Crawford to work tonight's game, along with David Guthrie and Derrick Stafford.

Noah just can't afford to lose his focus for BullsMay 10, 2013 12:00 AM
Joakim Noah let his emotions get the better of him against Miami. After his performance in Game 2 and his postgame message to the fans and media to zip it, he needs to just focus on his game and understand why the fans and media are speculating, says Mike North, who also hopes some calmness returns in Game 3. I need to explain something to Noah: there is speculation about Rose and his health because someone in the Bulls organization leaked the news that Rose was cleared by doctors in February to play — nothing happened.

Thibodeau adds heat to Miami’s fire May 10, 2013 12:00 AM
If the Bulls weren't already in bad enough shape and now trailing 2-1 in the series with Miami, Tom Thibodeau decided to embarrass LeBron James.

Bulls not pointing any fingers May 9, 2013 12:00 AM
A couple days ago, Nate Robinson was the star of the 2013 NBA playoffs. The league even created a television ad depicting people across the globe watching Robinson's non-game winning bank shot in Game 4 of the Bulls' first-round series against Brooklyn. By Thursday, the spotlight shifted to Filomena Tobias, the Heat fan captured in a photo sticking her middle finger in Joakim Noah's face as he headed to the locker room after being ejected from Game 2.

Mental toughness key for Bulls May 9, 2013 12:00 AM
Even when playing shorthanded, the Bulls can rise to the occasion as well as any team in the NBA. Their 93-86 victory over the Miami Heat in Game 1 was a perfect example. Because they're playing shorthanded, though, they've got to be razor sharp. Faced with a more intense Heat effort in Game 2, the Bulls were sloppy, fell way behind and tossed the game plan in the garbage before checking out completely.

Ordeal left Deng shaken and 15 lbs. lighter May 9, 2013 12:00 AM
After being sent to the hospital a week ago, Luol Deng reunited with his teammates on Thursday at the Berto Center. Deng, who said he has lost 15 pounds since he had a spinal tap to rule out meningitis, said the ordeal was frightening. "I've never been through anything like that. It was scary for me, scary for everyone that was around me," Deng said. "I never knew of a spinal tap before that, didn't know the reaction or the side effect of it, so I was really scared."

Bulls’ Noah: We’ll be back May 8, 2013 12:00 AM
Even the ugliest loss in Bulls playoff history still counts as just one loss. The only good news for the visiting team on Wednesday was they upset defending champ Miami in Game 1 and will head back to the United Center with the series even at 1-1.

Bulls routed in Game 2 by Heat May 8, 2013 12:00 AM
The Bulls' ugly, physical and complaint-filled loss to Miami nearly required an extra page on the stat sheet to list all the technical fouls. The Bulls didn't respond to the challenge and suffered the worst playoff loss in franchise history in Game 2 at American Airlines Arena. “That’s the way it is. We can’t shy away from contact,” Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau said. “It usually comes down to will; your will and determination. The ball’s in the air, you’re going to get hit. That’s reality. That’s NBA basketball.”

Rose will return ... but guessing when just sillyMay 8, 2013 12:00 AM
Prior to the Bulls' lopsided loss at Miami on Wednesday, rumors swirled that Derrick Rose might return for Game 3 on Friday. Of course, nothing will be official until the man himself roars, "Tonight's the night!" Bulls fans seem to understand that Rose wouldn't be able to play many minutes or be very effective after such a long layoff. Yet a large segment of them want him back. Meanwhile, other large segments want him to do everything from continue resting to be traded.
