The Repbulican primary race for the District 1 seat on the Cook County Board of Review has already resulted in some mudlslinging, with challenger Sean Morrison of Palos Park saying that incumbent Dan Patlak of Wheeling engaged in electioneering at a Nov. 30 outreach meeting. Patlak says the meeting was a political one, not an official Boad of Review outreach.

The final day for candidates to throw their hat into the 2012 primary election ring came and went Monday without any surprises for suburban Cook County voters. As expected, Circuit Court Clerk Dorothy Brown faces a challenge in the Democratic primary, but so far State's Attorney Anita Alvarez will run for re-election unopposed.

Cook County Clerk David Orr is heading for victory, with 77 percent of the votes after 80 percent of precincts have been counted. The Democrat and former Chicago alderman was challenged by Republican attorney Angel Garacia, with 22.9 percent of the vote.
