    Illinois authors who have self-published an adult fiction book may enter the second year of the Soon to be Famous Illinois Author project until Monday, Dec. 15. Nelson Delgado, of the 37700 Block of Metropolitan Avenue, was killed when the 2008 Acura he was driving struck a tree near the intersection of Green Bay Road and Bonnie Brook Lane in Beach Park.

    An arrest warrant has been issued for a potentially armed and dangerous Beach Park man wanted in connection with a shooting last week, authorities said Wednesday. The Lake County Sheriff’s office obtained the arrest warrant for Joshua Malombo, 27, who faces charges alleging he fired shots inside a residence near Green Bay and Wadsworth roads Aug. 29.

    Eric Castillo, of Beach Park, was sentenced to 35 years in prison for assisting in the brutal murder of a Waukegan man inside of an auto body shop in 2011. Castillo is one of four people who are either in custody or sentenced to prison for the murder of David Campbell.

    A 21-year-old man accused of assisting in the torture and murder of a Waukegan man and helping to dump his body in the Penny Road Pond near Barrington was sentenced to 59 years in prison by a Lake County judge Thursday. Jose Horta, of Waukegan, was found guilty in March of holding a gun to the head of David Campbell at an auto body shop while others tortured him.
