    The Kane County Fair 2014 Talent Contest first-place winners Sophia Peterson of Elgin (Junior Division) and Erin Newman of St. Charles (Senior Division) will represent Kane County and compete on Saturday, Jan. 17, at the Illinois Association of Agricultural Fairs Official Talent Contest State Competition in Springfield.

    Carpentersville is seeking residents' input on strategies to enhance recreational uses along the Fox River at a Jan. 21 public hearing. It’s part of a regional study being done by the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning expected to be completed this summer. The study will play some part in the Kane County Forest Preserve’s overall goal to remove the Carpentersville dam on the Fox River.

  • Batavia hopeful Rechenmacher to decide Wednesday what he’ll run for Dec 30, 2014 8:36 PM
    Ron Rechenmacher said Tuesday he is leaning toward running for the Batavia school board, but he'll wait until after the ballot position lottery for Batavia City Council to decide which seat he'll seek. That lottery, and the deadline to withdraw from a race, is tomorrow. Rechenmacher filed nominating positions for both seats, but election officials say he can't serve simultaneously in both positions.
