Sporting All The Benefits May 20, 2013 12:00 AM
Do you think sports are all fun and games? While that is not incorrect, the truth of the matter lies in the obvious fact that a child who participates in a sport is offered far more benefits than just having an enjoyable time. Although some may argue participating in a sport is a distraction and a time consuming activity, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention declares otherwise. Childhood obesity has reached an all time high, doubling in children and tripling in adolescents over the past 30 years. In 2010, more than one third of children and adolescents were overweight or obese. With obesity becoming such a prevalent issue, it is no fallacy that children need to increase their physical activity, and what better way to start then by participating in a sport.

Naperville Central claims sectional crown May 18, 2013 12:00 AM
If you were trying to gauge the percentage of bitter and sweet on the Marmion's doubles team of John Graft and Jackson Rettig's bittersweet day at the West Aurora sectional Saturday, think at least 90 percent sweet. Even the bitter part, a loss in the sectional final to Naperville Central's No. 1 seed Wesley Lo and Sid Swamy, wasn't that bad, and it certainly did little to dampen the sweet part of earning a trip to the state tournament.
