    Local author Todd Tarbox will be speaking at the Barrington Area Library Wednesday night about his book detailing the relationship between legendary filmmaker Orsen Welles and Tarbox’s maternal grandfather, Roger Hill. Hill was the headmaster of the Todd School for Boys, a private boarding school in Woodstock, at the same time that Welles attended school there.

    Grammy-nominated musicians Justin Roberts and Liam Davis delighted the audience Saturday with their upbeat tunes and family-friendly humor at the Barrington Area Library, 505 N. Northwest Hwy., Barrington. They performed an hourlong interactive show that had kids clapping along and some parents singing the lyrics. The event was free.

The BeAtEase campaign aims to let loved ones know all aspects of care the Barrington area’s adults would wish to receive in the event of an incapacitating injury or illness.

     
  • Barrington library to start $8.7 million renovation Apr 22, 2013 10:03 PM
    Barrington trustees Monday gave the green light to a long-planned, $8.7 million renovation of the Barrington Area Public Library, which is now expected to be completed in about 10 months. While most of the changes to the 35-year-old, 39,750-square-foot building at 505 N. Northwest Highway will be internal, there also will be a couple slight modifications to the exterior.

    Barrington Area Library officials are mulling a $5.7 million renovation to help meet what they consider to be some lingering needs following the failure of the 2008 referendum that proposed a whole new building. “The library has really become more than a place with books sitting on a shelf,” library board President Donald Minner said.
