  • Fehlman Memorial event set for Monday Jun 12, 2014 4:40 PM
    The 11th Annual Fehlman Memorial Senior All-Star Game is set for Monday night at Judson University in Elgin. The event features some of the top senior softball players from high schools throughout the Fox Valley, and honors the memory of Dave Fehlman and his son, Robbie. Dave Fehlman was a longtime supporter of high school and youth softball in the Fox Valley area and a past president of the Fox Valley Renegades. He passed away in 2007. Dave’s son, Robbie, was killed in a tragic auto accident in Colorado in 2012.

     
  • Akron tops Bandits 8-4 Jun 7, 2014 11:28 PM
    After an offensive explosion, the Akron Racers snapped their four-game losing streak against the Bandits with an 8-4 victory Saturday night in Rosemont. The scoring started early for both teams as Akron’s Taylor Schlopy got the first hit of the night, a home run to deep left field. In the bottom half of the first the Bandits answered with an RBI single by Tammy Williams to score Emily Allard.

    The host Chicago Bandits earned an 8-3 win over Akron, their fourth straight victory over the Racers. Tammy Williams, Brittany Cervantes and Kirsten Verdun had RBI doubles.

    The Chicago Bandits announced Wednesday theirs plans for the new Scholar Athlete of the Week program sponsored by TransNational Bankcard in Rosemont. “We are very excited about the launch of the Scholar Athlete Program,” said Bandits General Manager Aaron M. Moore. “We had a lot of success in the past with our Team of the Week program, and we feel like this is an even greater opportunity to recognize athletes in our sport and area."

     
  • Costly error gives Bandits 3-2 win Aug 23, 2013 11:44 PM
    Thanks to scoring two runs one a throwing error in the bottom of the seventh Friday night, the Chicago Bandits pulled out a 3-2 win in Game 1 of the NPF Championship. The Bandits can clinch the title with a another win today over the USSSA Pride at The Ballpark at Rosemont. The two teams will meet at 4 p.m. in the best-of-three series.

    The Akron Racers opened the National Pro Fastpitch Championship tournament with a 4-2 victory Thursday over the NY/NJ Comets at The Ballpark at Rosemont. The Chicago Bandits will play at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

    On Aug. 22-24, the nation’s four top professional softball teams will come to Rosemont to compete in the 2013 National Pro Fastpitch championship series. “The NPF is so thrilled to be back in Rosemont for this year’s series,” said Commissioner Cheri Kempf. “We are going to have a very exciting competition this year, especially as the audience for women’s fastpitch softball continues to grow.”

    With an automatic bid into the National Pro Fastpitch Championship on the line, the Chicago Bandits and USSSA Pride started a pivotal four-game game series at the Ballpark at Rosemont on Wednesday, and the Pride rallied for 3 runs in the seventh inning to defeat the Bandits 3-2. The Bandits need 2 wins in order to secure a spot in the championship, while the Pride needs to win three to force a tie-breaker for first place. The top two pitchers in the league, Monica Abbott and Cat Osterman, took the circle. Abbott allowed 3 runs on 8 hits with 7 strikeouts, while Osterman gave up 2 runs on 5 hits with a dozen strikeouts.

     
  • Ace pitcher Finch returning to Rosemont Jul 30, 2013 1:43 PM
    U.S. Olympic gold medalist and former Bandits pitcher Jennie Finch will join several of her former teammates before the Bandits game on Friday, Aug. 16 as she returned to Rosemont to cheer on her former team and prepare for a softball camp.

    The host Chicago Bandits took game four of their series with the New York/New Jersey Comets in a 12-5 decision Saturday to complete a series sweep, winning their ninth straight game in the process. Monica Abbott was the winning pitcher. She improved to 13-1.

    Nikki Nemitz started in the circle for the Chicago Bandits on Sunday and guided the team to a 9-5 victory to complete the series sweep for the first time this season. The win was Nemitz’s second of the season.
