    As we've reported, Rick Browne, a local architect, is working to convert the old Ziegler's Ace Hardware in West Dundee to the Fox Performing Arts Center, a venue he says will revitalize the downtown and become a hub of activity for local arts groups. The next fundraiser, dubbed "Celebrate the Arts," will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10, at Otto Engineering, 11 W. Main St., Carpentersville.

Ritter will be making a grand entrance into the Carson and Barnes Family Circus on an elephant as an honorary ringmaster. "I just climb right on there and get off," Ritter said. "I don't think I'll be doing any stunts or anything."

    The Allegiance Color Guards, based in the Dundee area, secured top honors at a recent color guard competition at Batavia High School. The group, which comprises high school and college students, scored first place in the independent Class A division, with 65.5 points.

    With this tough economy, it’s nice to know St. James Episcopal Church in West Dundee has your back. On Saturday, Dec. 17, church volunteers will give 115 Christmas dinners to local, needy families. Each dinner feeds six people and this marks the fourth year the church has raised enough money to get this program together.
