First, he discovers the new owner of the Chicago Rush has been accused of not paying the team's bills and thus, for the second time in recent years, the team is taken over by the league — once again leaving the future of the franchise in limbo. And then it's announced Thursday that another Allstate tenant, DePaul, will soon be playing its games in a new downtown arena.

:The Chicago Wolves concluded their 19th season Sunday with a 3-1 loss to the Grand Rapids Griffins at the Allstate Arena. The Wolves finished at 37-30-5-4, which maintained their uninterrupted tradition of winning records since the franchise was founded in 1994. Chicago drew 312,732 to the Allstate Arena, good for second in the 30-team American Hockey League.

The Chicago Wolves earned a crucial victory, rallying to beat the Charlotte Checkers 2-1 in a shootout Saturday night at the Allstate Arena. Center Jordan Schroeder knotted the game at 1-1 with 5:31 gone in the third period, with an assist by defenseman Yann Sauve. After a scoreless overtime, forwards Darren Haydar, Brett Sterling and Jon Matsumoto netted shootout goals to give the Wolves (36-27-5-4) their first win this year when trailing after two periods.

Forward Michael Davies has been named the Chicago Wolves' Dan Snyder Man of the Year in recognition of his unwavering commitment to Chicago-area charities and the community during the 2012-13 season. The award is earned by one Wolves player each season in memory of Snyder, who passed away on Oct. 5, 2003, after suffering head injuries in a car accident.

Individual playoff tickets for the first round of the 2013 Calder Cup Playoffs with the Chicago Wolves will go on sale to the public at 11 a.m. Wednesday. The American Hockey League's postseason schedule will be released after the Wolves wrap up the regular season on April 21 with a 4 p.m. game against Grand Rapids at Allstate Arena.

Defensemen Danny Groulx and Jim Vandermeer and forward Guillaume Desbiens scored the goals for the Wolves, (34-25-5-4), who remained tied for eighth and final Western Conference playoff berth with Milwaukee and Rockford.

The Chicago Wolves and Milwaukee exchanged goals for much of their intense Amtrak Rivalry game on Saturday night, but the Admirals netted back-to-back scores in the third period to claim a 4-3 win at Allstate Arena. Wolves captain Darren Haydar and defensemen Kevin Connauton and Mark Matheson scored goals for the Wolves (32-24-5-4), who dropped from a seventh-place tie with the Admirals into ninth in the Western Conference standings. The top eight qualify for the playoffs.

Chicago Wolves game report: The Chicago Wolves and Oklahoma City Barons battled for 65 minutes and into a six-round shootout — and the Wolves prevailed with a 3-2 win Wednesday night at the Allstate Arena. Danny Groulx and Darren Haydar scored in regulation for the Wolves (31-23-5-4), who snapped a two-game losing skid and moved into a tie for seventh in the Western Conference playoff standings. "It was a tough game tonight, both teams really battled," said Wolves coach Scott Arniel. "At this time of year it is nice to get 1 point, but even better to grab that second point." After the Barons tied the game at 2-2 with 3:57 gone in the second period, neither team scored in regulation or overtime. The Wolves' Michael Davies and Nicklas Jensen converted in the shootout, while goaltender Matt Climie stopped 5 of 6 tries by the Barons.
