Chamber Music on the Fox to host Artemisia Vocal Trio Feb. 22

The Chamber Music on the Fox season continues with "Sounds Like Us" featuring the Artemisia Vocal Trio on Monday, Feb. 22.

The virtual concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. The Chicago-based trio features Diana Lawrence, Alexandra Olsavsky, and Kaitlin Foley.

"Sounds Like Us" tells a timely story of female strength through the raw power of the female voice. In an engaging new staged performance, the Artemisia Vocal Trio harnesses the color and contrast of the rich vocal traditions of the world to celebrate the strength of women.

Artemisia draws from a vast repertoire of vocal styles - from Appalachian folk, Tushetian highlander cries, Cuban dance music, and everything in-between to take audiences on a journey of sound and spirit with every performance.

Artemisia actively commissions and performs newly composed works by living female composers. Most recently, they performed a commissioned arrangement of "Es savai mãminai" from Latvian composer, Kate Pukinskis, a liturgical premiere of Sungji Hong's "Missa Lumen de Lumine," and a world premiere of "O Nata Lux," which Hong wrote specifically for the group. In addition to new commissions, all three members of Artemisia regularly compose for the group internally, frequently adding new arrangements and original compositions of their own to their programs.

This season, Chamber Music on the Fox is providing the concerts without charge, but they encourage you to donate generously as you have in the past to keep the music playing!
