Guide to vaping and teen health offered Nov. 21 at Geneva High School

Geneva High School invites parents, staff, and community members in Geneva Unit District 304 to a free presentation by certified drug and alcohol counselor Matthew Quinn, licensed clinical professional counselor and certified alcohol and drug counselor, about vaping and marijuana use among students.

"Legal Marijuana: Now What? A Guide to the Law, Vaping and Teen Health" will be held from 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21 in the high school auditorium, 416 McKinley Ave.

"The cultural shift has reached a new peak in Illinois with the passing of recreational marijuana legislation for adults, and the increase of vaping among students," Quinn said. "Attendees of this presentation will learn the facts and receive practical tools to approach this topic with their kids."

This public event is one of several that Geneva High School has hosted in recent years to continue the discussion about substance use among students, according to Principal Tom Rogers.

"Our goal is to open up an honest dialogue with our parents and community about these trends, and to provide resources to concerned parents who are looking for answers," Rogers said.

Because space is limited, attendees are asked to register in advance by Monday, Nov. 18 at form.jotform.com/92794224219159.

This event is only for adults 21 and older.

This presentation is unrelated to any local action by the City of Geneva.
