Bloomingdale Chamber awards scholarships to 14 local students

Local businesses have donated just over $15,000 to the Bloomingdale Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Program.
Twelve graduating high school students and two alumni students received scholarships from the chamber breakfast honoring them on Thursday, June 13, at the Bloomingdale Golf Club.
The students' background and where they are headed vary, but they all had something in common besides the excellent grades, they also have given back to their community through volunteering. Bloomingdale is a village where residents support and encourage each other and it is reassuring the passion to give back continues with the next generation. It was inspiring to hear the accomplishments these students have achieved while still concentrating on their academics.

Thank you to Outback Steakhouse for hosting a scholarship fundraising luncheon in May.

Applicants must either live in Bloomingdale, work for a chamber business, or be a son or daughter of a chamber member.
Applications are accepted in February and March.
The two Alumni recipients are twins Regine and Randel Basilio, who are both attending Elmhurst College with double majors in finance and management.
The 12 regular scholarships went to: Angelo Griffin, Carly Borre, Alexis DiMeo, Michaela Brant, Clarissa Consoli, all from Lake Park High School in Roselle; Alexander Sowa and Jeromel Lara from Glenbard North High School in Carol Stream; George Bravos and Chelsey Aguilar from University of Illinois-Urbana/Champaign; Anastasia Bravos from University of Illinois at Chicago; Samuel Abe Dela Rosa from Abeka Academy Homeschooler; and Alexis Belmonte from University of Minnesota-Twin Cities.
The Bloomingdale Chamber of Commerce supports the success and growth of businesses and the community.
Membership is open to any business who wants to invest in their own growth through promoting their business through marketing, sponsorships and building relationships.
The chamber offers a variety of free and fee based events making it possible for members to get involved.
