Batavia's Holy Cross Catholic School names scholarship winners

Holy Cross Catholic School in Batavia is excited to announce that 11 of its eighth-grade students have received academic high school scholarships to attend Catholic high schools.

"We set the academic bar very high here at Holy Cross School," states Mike Puttin, Holy Cross Catholic School principal. "Our challenging curriculum prepares our students well for high school, and each year we see a high percentage of our graduating students earning academic scholarships to Catholic high schools."

The following is a list of high school scholarship recipients from Holy Cross Catholic School:

• Aurora Central Catholic High School in Aurora: Savanah Kermend, Michael O'Brien and Erin Reinhart

• Marmion Academy in Aurora: Matthew Carlson, Phineas Mahoney, Luke O'Connor, and Jacob Stumm

• Rosary High School in Aurora: Sophia Cousins, Laila Figueras, Lauren Audrey Paschoud and Grace Stumm.

Holy Cross Catholic School, 2300 Main St., opened its doors in August 2008 as the first new Catholic school in the Rockford Diocese in over 30 years.

Currently serving more than 460 students from the Fox Valley and surrounding areas, Holy Cross Catholic School provides an intensely faith-based and academically challenging education to students in preschool through eighth grade.
