Nonprofit to host annual 'Golden Ball' May 18 to benefit golden retrievers
As Good as Gold-Golden Retriever Rescue of Illinois is hosting its annual gala event, "A Golden Ball," at 5 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at Medinah Shrine Center in Addison.
The evening will feature great food, silent auction items, a live auction and entertainment.
Tickets are $120 and include hors d'oeuvres, open bar, dinner and dancing.
Funds raised will support veterinary care and canine supplies to golden retrievers and golden mixes that are in need. The public is invited to attend to help support this all-volunteer rescue group.
Since May 2003, the nonprofit has rescued more than 2500 dogs. All rescued dogs are given thorough veterinary exams so that their medical and emotional needs can be assessed. All dogs are assigned a foster home until they are ready to be placed in their forever homes.
As Good as Gold is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that is supported entirely through private donations and fundraising events such as "A Golden Ball."
Rescued dogs come from all walks of life, some are owner relinquishments, others are found as strays, many come from commercial breeders where the dogs have limited social interaction with humans. These special need dogs can cost the organization thousands of dollars to rehabilitate.
As Good as Gold provides everything these dogs need in order for them to go on to lead healthy, happy lives. Donations and the volunteer efforts of the group are vital to the welfare of these rescued dogs.
