West Aurora High School to hold benefit car show April 28

West Aurora High School will hold a third annual benefit car show from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, April 28, in front of the school at 1201 W. Galena Blvd. in Aurora.

The public is invited. Admission is free.

In addition to cars, awards, food, music and giveaways are planned. Sponsored by the school's student government and dance marathon groups, the event will benefit Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago.

Last year's event showcased more than 100 cars of all makes and models. Registration, $5 per car, opens at 10 a.m. or online at wahsautoshow.wixsite.com/ftk2019.

Award categories are pre-1960s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s and 2010s. Judging by visitors and contestants begins at 11:30 a.m. Andrew Plata, show coordinator and diversified education teacher will craft category trophies from spare auto parts.

In a "rev battle" at 1:40 p.m., contestants will rev up their car engines to see who has the loudest car based on decibel readings. The winner will receive a car show T-shirt.
