MCCD will host 'An Evening of Flamenco' March 29

Join the McHenry County Conservation District for an intimate evening concert and dessert in a beautiful setting featuring traditional Flamenco music and dance.

Enjoy "An Evening of Flamenco" from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 29, at Lost Valley Visitor Center in Glacial Park, Route 31 and Harts Road, Ringwood.

The featured performers are part of the Diego Alonso Spanish-Jazz Flamenco Ensemble.

Alonso has been performing and composing Spanish guitar inspired music - Flamenco, classical, Latin, Spanish, Spanish-Jazz - nationally and internationally since 2002.

Alonso graduated with highest honors in Flamenco Guitar Performance from the Fundación Cristina Heeren de Arte Flamenco in Seville, Spain where he studied closely under some of Flamenco's most respected master educators and performers.

Throughout his professional career, Diego Alonso has shared the stage, with prominent musicians and ensembles including Rocío Márquez (Spain), Jorge Pérez (Spain), Alfonso Cid (New York), Darwin Noguera (Chicago), Victor Garcia (Chicago), Alberto Sellés (Spain, Sweden), Chiara Mangiamelli (Chicago, Poland), Las Guitarras de España (U.S., Mexico, Portugal, Morocco), Fulcrum Point New Music Project (Chicago), and others.

The Lost Valley Visitor Center venue in Glacial Park provides a backdrop of gorgeous natural scenery through the picture windows.

Coffee, tea, and gourmet sweets from Kiera's Confections provided.

Space is limited, so register early.

Registration and fee are due by Wednesday, March 27.

Cost is $25 for McHenry County residents and $32 for nonresidents.

The program is for adults, age 14 and older.
