St. Charles gallery to feature 'Duality Narrative' exhibit

The 116 Gallery in St. Charles will feature artists Karen Tichy and Yale Factor in exhibit "Duality Narrative."

An opening reception will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27. The gallery is at 116 W. High St., St. Charles, inside the Mixology Building. The exhibit opened Oct. 19 and continues to Dec. 2.

The award-winning 116 Gallery is an artists platform for both regional and national/international artists.

"Duality Narrative" highlights both Chicago artist Karen Tichy and DeKalb artist Yale Factor, professor emeritus of art at Northern Illinois University, with each artist "visually speaking" in the "Duality Narrative" show.

Tichy's Artic-inspired work explores horizontal color tonalities in her encaustic and paper on panel work. Even a use for "found ink calligraphy" is creatively embedded into the encaustic monoprint on paper in her "Practice, Practice, Practice" work.

There's a sense of illusion and the surreal in Factor's narrative still life paintings. He incorporates figures of artists and artworks that have influenced him, into some of his autobiographical work. Magritte's "Time Transfixed" steam locomotive may be leaping out of the fireplace once again, as in Factor's oil painting "The Joker."

Both artists will relate their inspiration, methods and will be available for conversations throughout the evening. Join the artists for a meet and greet. The reception includes appetizers, refreshments and music. All art is available for purchase.
