Elgin Alive Series to explore 'Expedition Death: From Mummies to Mausoleums' Oct. 9

On Tuesday, Oct. 9, the Elgin Community Network's "Elgin Alive Series" continues with "Expedition Death From Mummies to Mausoleums." It will be 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Meadows Community Room at Gail Borden Public Library, 270 N. Grove Ave., Elgin.

It's a mystical and fabled route from the funerary temples of the ancients to the awe-inspiring marbled mausoleums of Elgin's Bluff City Cemetery.

Expedition organizers Michael Murschel, Judi Brownfield, and Mary Kirkman dig into, as only they can, the ominous shadows of forgotten civilizations, blood-chilling rites, and dark knowledge best-left-never-to-be-shared, to uncover the eerie origins of the architecture, traditions, and symbols of the Fox Valley's "cities of the dead."

The program is sponsored by the Elgin Community Network, The City of Elgin, and Gail Borden Public Library.
