Grand Dominion's Car Show Provides Largest Donation Ever to Fremont Food Pantry!

Grand Dominion by Del Webb, located in Mundelein, Illinois, is a premier community for over 1,400 active adults aged 55 and better. On August 19th 2018, Grand Dominion's Car Show Club, held its 10th Annual Cruisin' with the Classics Car Show on behalf of the Fremont Food Pantry.

This yearly event was by far the most well attended, with nearly 1,000 spectators and over 210 registered collector cars! Crowds of people were drawn to this popular Car Show to not only see beautifully cared-for automobiles, but to enjoy a wonderful day socializing, eating great food and listening to music with neighbors from all over our surrounding communities!

As a result of the generosity of the public in attendance, the food and cash donations they brought will be used by the Fremont Food Pantry to help local neighbors in need. The Car Show was able to provide the Food Pantry with over 4 truckloads full of non-perishable food products and school supplies. In addition, cash donations and gift cards totaling in excess of $8,170 were presented to Diana O'Kelly, Fremont Township Supervisor, at the Club's close-out meeting on September 6th.

Bob Giles, Chairman of Grand Dominion's Annual Cruisin' with the Classics Car Show Club, along with Sam Richie, the Club's co-founder, are very proud of what their Car Show has been able to do for such a giving organization, and attribute a good portion of its success to those who volunteer. In addition to the 99 volunteers from within the Grand Dominion Community, they had six non-community individuals volunteer. The Car Show Club also had 14 community sponsors and 100 donors to help their cause! Over the 10 year span, the Club has provided the Fremont Food Pantry more than 20 truckloads of non-perishable food products and school supplies. Donations of cash, checks and gift cards, in excess of $25,000 were also given! The Grand Dominion's Annual Cruisin' with the Classics Car Show has had one goal in mind... giving back to those in need.
