Tribute to Motown opens Community Concert Association season

The Voices, one of the Midwest's top R&B vocal groups, will open the 2018-19 concert season presented by the Northwest Suburban Community Concert Association, in partnership with District 214 Community Education, with a Tribute to Motown at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 23. The concert will be held at Forest View Educational Center, 2121 S. Goebbert Road, Arlington Heights. Tickets are $25 and may be purchased at www.nscommunityconcerts.org or by calling the box office at (847) 718-7702, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Voices hit national television when they appeared on NBC's The Steve Harvey Show in 2012, where their segment remains the second-most viewed video in that show's history. The concert will feature music from The Temptations, The Four Tops, Smokey Robinson & the Miracles, The Spinners and more.

This concert is the first of a five-concert series being offered by the Northwest Suburban Community Concert Association, a nonprofit organization that has been bringing internationally-known artists to the Northwest suburbs for more than 70 years.

The series also includes The Music of Sarah Vaughan by vocalist Typhanie Monique on Nov. 4, before resuming in Spring 2019 with three more concerts. Spring concerts include Chicago's Great Young Songwriters on Feb. 10, The Windy City Gay Chorus and Treble Quire on April 24, and The Complete Beatles Tribute by American English on May 5. Season subscriptions are available and also include six concerts offered by the Lake County Community Concert Association in Waukegan.
