Celebrate 1890s-style Country Fair at Kline Creek Farm

Visitors early next month can experience a fair from DuPage County's agricultural past and visit the midway for games, entertainment, horse-drawn wagon rides and other activities when the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County plays host to its annual Country Fair.

The party runs from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Sept. 1 and 2 at Kline Creek Farm, 1N600 County Farm Road in West Chicago.

This year's fair will feature 1890s technology and agricultural advances, including demonstrations of a mechanical cream separator, checkrow planting wire and a dog-powered mill.

Among the highlights will be the sights and sounds of the world's only "kalliorgel"; magician and storyteller William Pack; Jade Strong and Joshua Heise performing popular 1890s music; and the Museum of Wonder and Awe collected from the six corners of the globe.

Visitors can test their skills and compete for prizes in the games tent, or have a souvenir portrait taken in period attire.

Admission to this all-ages fair is free, but there are small fees for some activities. Horse-drawn wagon rides (younger than 18 with an adult) will be available for $5 for ages 5 and older and free for those younger than 5.

For more information, call (630) 876-5900.
