Lake County Fair offers mixed bag of activities

90th annual Lake County Fair offers both new and traditional activities when it returns

The 90th annual Lake County Fair returns Wednesday, July 25, through Sunday, July 29, at the Lake County Fairgrounds & Event Center, 1060 E. Peterson Road, Grayslake.

Entertainment tops the lineup of new and traditional events as Bella Cain kicks off musical acts from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Thursday, with 7th heaven on Friday and American English on Saturday, both from 9 to 11 p.m.

New events for 2018 will include the Timberworks Lumberjack Show and family activities presented by the Illinois National Guard. Returning favorites include truck-and-tractor pulls, the demolition derby and monster truck shows in the Grandstand area (featuring new bleachers), carnival rides for all ages, and community competitions for blue ribbons, as well as 4-H exhibitions, an antique tractor parade and an expanded selection of fair foods.

The Lake County Fair is sponsored by Snap-on and Medici Landscaping Inc.

The fair is open from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, July 25 and 26; 10 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday, July 27 and 28; and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 29. Main gate ticket sales open at 8 a.m. daily. Ticket prices vary.

The fairgrounds are easily accessible via major highways and Metra's Milwaukee District North and North Central Service rail lines. For schedules, visit www.metrarail.com. Hotel sponsors are DoubleTree By Hilton and Baymont Inn & Suites.
