Join in 'DiscoverElgin' scavenger hunt

To celebrate National Parks and Recreation Month, the City of Elgin and the Elgin Parks and Recreation Department invite the community to join in a scavenger hunt featuring a variety of places located right here in town.

To be entered into a raffle, visit each Parks and Rec site, take photos of your visit and post it on Instagram or Twitter with #DiscoverElginParksAndRec.

The locations include: Elgin Public Museum, 225 Grand Blvd.; Jack E. Cook Park entrance, 4600 Plank Road; climbing wall at The Centre of Elgin, 100 Symphony Way; Hawthorne Hill Nature Center sign, 28 Brookside Drive; Elgin Sports Complex soccer field No. 4, 709 Sports Way; Trout Park baseball field, 576 Trout Park Blvd.; Eastside Recreation Center fishing pier, 1080 E. Chicago St.; Lords Park Zoo buffalo, 325 Hiawatha Drive; Walton Island American flag, 1 Walton Island; St. Francis Park, 277 Jefferson Ave.; Wing Park band shell, 1010 Wing St.; and Grolich Park playground, 37 Souster Ave.

If you don't do social media, you can complete the scavenger hunt form at www.cityofelgin.org and turn it in to the front courtesy desk at The Centre of Elgin.

Completed scavenger hunts must be turned in no later than Tuesday, July 31.
