The Illinois Park and Recreation Association held Lifeguard Games, their annual competition for park and recreation agency lifeguards and junior lifeguards, on July 11 at Hunt Club Aquatic Center in Gurnee.

Lifeguards and junior lifeguards from various agencies were put against each other in tests of strength, speed, rescue skills, endurance and teamwork.

As defending champions for the past nine years, the Gurnee Park District lifeguards and junior lifeguard teams embraced the hard work that went into training.
