Donate school supplies to Palatine Township for children in need

Palatine Township is continuing its 30-year tradition of ensuring underprivileged children in the township have school supplies, so the youngsters are ready to learn when school starts in the fall.

This program benefits students from kindergarten through ninth grade who attend District 15 elementary and middle schools, and District 211 high schools.

The township is currently accepting school supply and school backpack donations. A list of the needed supplies and several Palatine drop off locations can be found at: https://palatinetownship-il.gov/apple-tree-campaign/. Monetary donations are also being accepted. Checks can be made payable to the Palatine Township Needy Family Fund, with "Apple Tree" written on the memo line and mailed to, or dropped off at, Palatine Township, 721 S. Quentin Road, Suite 101, Palatine, Illinois 60067.

Donations will also be accepted until Thursday, July 26, and can also be dropped off at Palatine Township during normal business hours: Mondays from 8:30 a.m. until 7 p.m., Tuesdays through Fridays from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. until noon.

"We are honored to be able to provide such a valuable program for children living in Palatine Township," said Palatine Township Supervisor Sharon Langlotz-Johnson. "A strong education is absolutely vital for a strong community, and the Apple Tree program helps in-need children who receive these supplies focus on learning."

In addition to school supplies and monetary donations, Palatine Township is also seeking volunteers in July and August to help distribute the school supplies to township families between August 2-4.

If you're interested in volunteering, please email Judy Mazzone at jmazzone@palatinetownship-il.gov. For questions about the program, please contact Lori Lindberg at Llindberg@palatinetownship-il.gov.
