Zengeler Cleaners Celebrates Anniversaries of Long Grove and Northbrook Stores

Northbrook, IL, July 10, 2018: Since the turn of the millennium, many dry cleaners have faced close scrutiny from local communities, particularly when it comes to their processing solutions. Not so for Zengeler Cleaners. The historic company has long made it a priority to use only environmentally friendly cleaning solvents combined with energy-efficient, cutting edge technology at all locations. That's one of the many reasons Zengeler Cleaners is the Midwest's oldest and largest dry cleaner … now 161 years strong.

This passionate focus on a customer friendly and best in class technology are key features of Zengeler Cleaners two newest stores in Long Grove and Northbrook. The Long Grove location, currently celebrating its 7th anniversary, was one of the first in the nation to feature a fully-automated kiosk with 24/7/365 pick-up and drop-off, automating the handling, sorting, bagging and invoicing of each order - a solution quickly embraced by many customers.

In fact, the automation was so successful that an updated version of the Metalprogetti conveyor system was deployed in Zengeler Cleaners' newest location in Northbrook, opening in 2015. The combination of advanced technology, environmentally friendly processing and an ultra-modern design resulted in Northbrook earning recognition as the "Outstanding Strip Location For New Store Design" from American Dry Cleaner, a leading industry publication.

Both stores, of course, use only natural solvents in the cleaning process as part of the company's commitment to the environment. All solvents are recaptured and recycled in the tightest, most carefully controlled systems ever designed. This approach stands in contrast to other cleaners who use solutions such as perchlorethylene, or "perc," a less expensive process with an unpleasant side-effect: it poses a potential hazard to the environment.

"Zengeler Cleaners is proud of the success of our Long Grove and Northbrook locations," said Tom Zengeler, president of the family owned dry cleaner. "Our customers love our friendly service, they appreciate our concern for the environment and their communities, and they enjoy the ability to pick up orders 24 x 7 using the stores' self-serve kiosks. This combination of service, technology and sensitivity to the environment are very important to all the stakeholders: our customers, our employees and to the Zengeler family."

Zengeler Cleaners offers a complete range of services at all store locations. The company's growth and longevity were accomplished by setting a higher standard in fabric care, coupled with the family's belief that successful businesses should be partners in the communities they serve. Zengeler delivers on that belief through its support for programs such as youth and social/service organizations throughout its service area.

In addition to the Long Grove and Northbrook stores, the company has six other locations: Deerfield, Hubbard Woods, Northfield, Winnetka and two stores in Libertyville, along with eight home pick-up and delivery routes.
