Many Ways to Cool Off This Summer

The Hoffman Estates Park District wants to help keep everyone cool this summer and has a few ideas:

Seascape Family Aquatic Center: Open daily from 11:45 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., weather permitting. Seascape offers hours of fun with its water playground, zero depth pool, water slides and sand play area. Resident admission is $7 for youth and seniors and $9 for adults. Nonresidents admission is $8 for youth/seniors and $10 for adults.

Splash Pads: The park district offers free access to splash pads at Vogelei (650 W. Higgins Road), Tropicana (680 Audubon), and Princeton (5400 McDonough) parks, open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Ice Arena: Free ice skating is available this summer on July 22 and Aug. 19 from 3-4:30 p.m. at Triphahn Center Ice Arena, 1685 W. Higgins Road.

Shady Parks: Tall Oaks Park (5670 Angouleme Lane) has a shady tree-lined path and Tropicana Park (680 Audubon) has a big shade structure in the center of the park that is surrounded by the splash pad, volleyball court, playground and horseshoe and bocce ball courts.

Official Cooling Centers: When the temperatures are extremely hot the Triphahn Center, Willow Recreation Center (3600 Lexington), Prairie Stone Sports and Wellness Center (5050 Sedge Blvd.) and the HE Police Station are all places where residents who are without air conditioning in their homes can escape the severe heat.
